Community Development
Community Development staff work directly with city and county leaders to identify issues affecting the jurisdiction and plan and implement solutions. Staff have expertise in areas such as:
- Brownfield Identification and Redevelopment
- Building Rehabilitation
- Infrastructure Maintenance & Replacement
- Hazard Mitigation Planning
- Housing Assessments and Rehabilitation
- Personnel System Development
- Problem Analysis and Resolution Solutions
- Grant Funding and Administration
Grant programs are widely available. Commission staff work with local officials to secure an average of $7 to $10 million a year in state and federal grant funds for infrastructure and housing related projects. These projects improve the quality of life and accessibility to affordable housing in the region.
